Vic climbed aboard his first Harley Davidson, a 1952 HD 125cc, at the young age of eleven. His father gave him this motorcycle to use for delivering news papers in the Florida community where he spent his childhood years. Since those early days, he has owned and operated motorcycles, almost without interruption. The sense of freedom, independence and control of one’s life that riding a motorcycle brings has kept Vic involved with motorcycling throughout the years.
During the 1970’s, Vic became quite involved with off-road motorcycling while living in southern California, At the time he owned a 1968 BSA 441 “Victor” which he road for both pleasure and in sanctioned off-road racing competitions. With the advance of the two stroke engine, he bought his first Japanese motorcycle, a Suzuki RM 250 which served him well for many years during his involvement with desert racing, motocross racing, Baja Mexico racing and family outings. Vic has owned various street and dirt bikes over the years, but has never strayed far from the Harley Davidson brand.
Vic’s professional career began in the mid 1960’s when he graduated from college with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he worked as an engineer for the General Electric Company, where in the late 60’s he took a military leave of absence from GE and joined the US Navy as a pilot. He served as a Naval Officer and Fighter Pilot flying the F-4 Phantom during Vietnam and the F-14 Tomcat and other aircraft in later years. Vic retired from the Navy in the late 80’s.
Following his Navy retirement, Vic immediately went to work as a pilot for American Airlines. His career with American Airlines included flying the B-727, DC-10, MD-80, B-757 and B-767 aircraft to international destinations around the world. Vic recently retired from American Airlines as a B-767 Captain.
With a lifelong enjoyment of the outdoors, Vic has never tired of riding motorcycles. He is a member of the both the Harley Owner’s Group, and the local Intermountain HOG chapter of Boise, Idaho. Vic currently owns a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King Classic.
Vic’s sense of adventure and love of motorcycling has carried over into his third career as a partner in Sawtooth Motorcycle Tours, LLC. He loves the challenge of planning and organizing new tours and sharing these adventures with motorcycle enthusiasts. Forty years of aviation background has instilled in him the importance of professionalism, safety, maturity, planning, decision making and good old common sense.
We hope to share our love of motorcycling and the outdoors with you.
Ride safe.
